Paladin has special blows that put ‘Marks of Pariah’ debuff on his target. This debuff stacks up to three times. Another group of special attacks can use existing Marks of Pariah to slow the enemy down, silence him or to inflict additional damage. Paladins use marks system to be more effective in many situations: when killing mobs, fighting in PvP or tanking bosses. Here is the example of how you can use marks system in the very beginning of the game. Paladin uses Righteous Prayer, Crusader Strike and Righteous Prayer again to put three Marks of Pariah on his target. Then he strikes with Retribution and the enemy is slowed by 60% for 10 seconds. Now Paladin can run away to heal himself or attack again with Righteo
Canons are ‘physical’ objects that appear in character’s inventory after Paladin uses his ‘Prayer’ skill. Canons are required for Paladin healing abilities. E.g. when Canon of Light ability is used 2 canons are consumed, Healing Touch consumes three canons etc. If there are not enough canons healing spell will not be casted. Maximum number of canons Paladin can have is determined by his Prayer skill level: 10, 20 or 30.
Every new paladin has one barrier. At lvl 22 he receives the second one and at lvl 40 – third one. Paladin has special class abilities that can reduce the damage stored in his barriers. We will talk about them later. Barriers allow Paladin to survive raid bosses’ criticals without dying immediately. That is why this class is perfect for those players who wish to play tanks.
Barriers may seem confusing for new paladins but this is really a very simple thing. Barriers delay maximum damage received for 10 sec. That’s what they do, no more no less. When you start the fight you usually have zero damage in your barrier which means that nobody inflicted you damage for the last ten seconds. Mob hits you for 10 damage. This damage go to your barrier. It will stay here for 10 seconds maximum and then hit you. Mob hits you again for 5 damage. 5 < 10 (we have 10 dmg in barrier, remember?) so this damage doesn’t go to the barrier – it hits Paladin instead. And suddenly mob crits you for 30 damage. 30 becomes new maximum and goes to barrier for 10 seconds and 10 damage currently stored in the barrier hit you immediately.
Here we see two barriers with 45 damage stored in the first and 26 in the second
Paladin has three features which differ him from all other Allods Online archetypes. They are: barriers, canons and marks. Let’s have a look at each of them:
Which race is best for Paladin? The general answer is “none”. All the abilities are useful in different combat situations. Personally, I think that Orc ability is too PvP-oriented so don’t choose Orc if you plan to tank in PvE often.
Orc Paladin – Reaver: “Reaver’s Coup”, Inflicts a direct melee damage and burns the enemyвІ s mana or energy.
AvengerвІ s War CryвІ, Lowers any damage received by party members by 50%. Great ability for tanking, saving party from a certain death and running away from gankers
Xadaganian Paladin – Avenger: вІ
Kanian Paladin – Crusader: “Crusader’s Strike”, Inflicts melee damage and DOTs the enemy. This attack requires one-hand spear equipped. Besides, Crusaders are the only paladins who can use these spears from the first level.
TemplarвІ s TriumphвІ, Inflicts deeper melee damage, which may resist the first heal attempt. Besides dealing damage and this strike also puts Mark of Pariah on the target.
Elven Paladin – Templar: вІ
Four races are available for those who want to play Paladin in Allods Online. Two for each side of the global conflict. The difference between them is tiny one: just one racial skill which you learn after completing simple quest in your home city. Let’s see those abilities in details.
Third, Paladins are anything but helpless in PvP. When you reach PvP zones you’ll see that Paladin can outlive the enemy in 1v1 fight due to his great survivability and be an effective team member in raid vs. raid due to his aggro-generating and slowing skills.
Second, Paladins level quickly and easily: they inflict good damage, have thick armor and able to heal themselves and the group both in and after a fight.
First and the most important thing is: Paladins (Crusaders, Templars, Reavers and Avengers) are the best tanks in the game. It’s true that Warriors can tank as well. E.g. Warrior with a proper build actually can tank pack of weak mobs even better than Paladin. But Paladin is the only class that is perfectly designed to generate large amount of aggro and at the same time survive under attacks of Allods hardest raid bosses.
